Dune is arguably the best science fiction story ever. I hope they will make a proper movie about it soon.

the one thing i liked the best about this movie is you get to heard their thoughts. it gave the movie a unique touch.

"Dune is arguably the best science fiction story ever."

anyone who argues its not is a fucking moron. dune is one of the elite scifi stories ever. frank herbert, brian herbert, and keven j anderson are gods among men.

I Frank Herbert yes, I haven't read K.J.Anderson's books, but Frank's son was kind of a let down after reading the books that his father wrote.

Lynch's version certainly looked better and had more star power, but the SciFi mini-series did better justice to the original story. Personally, I liked both adaptations.

Dune is indeed one of the great classics of science fiction books. That said, I think only the first book falls into that category. I made it as far as Children of Dune before giving up on the bloated universe that Herbert milked for the rest of his life.

SCI-FI on LSD man you gotta love that shit.. Dune is one of the more intense and in depth sci fi books i have read.. will agree but his son whilst a good effort will never have anything on Frank Herbert.

The flying thing was suppose to be one of the ancient space travelers who with time and through spice evolved to actually be able to bend space so everyone in the universe pays them to have them travel to where ever they need and what do they pay them in? you got it Spice...

the tv series i found was more true to the book i especially like the Jamis was my friend scene as it helped to re-enforce the idea that Paul was would out of his league and over his head it helped. Though alot of the "He shall know your ways as if born to them" type scenes could have been avoided with the inner monologue that the Dr. gives. I also didn't like the look of Stilgar because in the book both he and Uwe were described as tall men but in the tv thing they are both short fat blokes go figure. I suppose i missed the view of Fremen culture that the Movie lacked still it was a wicked movie.

But you have to love Sting in the Original what a loon lol.

Facts is that Lynch thought this movie was so horrible he didnt want his name on the credits when they released the DVD-version :/
Lynch had tones of "moviepeople" making him do it cheaper and more appealing to an audience.
This movie could have been so much better :(

Did you know that Lynch was once offered the chance to direct The Empire Strikes Back? Imagine how that would've turned out!

I argue that the prequels for the butlerian jihad are great... they tell a great story but I do agree that the house books and the sequel to the original series is a bit kooky.

Of course they won't live up to the expectations of the first series because the first seried by Frank were ground breaking science fiction... they are the best for a reason. Asking for his son to top his fathers fame is asking alot. Frank accomplished alot and was an amazing author, as for his son and Kevin J. I think they are doing an alright job... somethings I would change though.
