I'm a skydiver myself and he should have pulled a lot earlier when he saw the plane, that's the general rule, he did not even try to trackdive (fall position that will generate more horizontal speed) away from it. But the fault realy lies with the pilot, he isn't allowed to fly over a dropzone when there is skydiving activity, probably got lost for a bit.
Anyway, close call indeed.

arkivx, 9.86 m/s² is acceleration speed, not your speed of falling. A skydiver doesn't accelerate indefenitly due to friction with the air (terminal velocity). In a normal belly-down fall position you would reach speeds of about 190 to 240 km/h (about 140 to 170 mph) depending on the way you are build (short small or long tall) and your how well you arch your back. Freeflyers, who do headdown, sitfly, standing up do about 250 to 300 km/h. Speed skydivers can even reach speeds of 500 km/h.
