Not that I like Bush, but I think he did the right thing when it came to keeping calm. If he went out like crazy cowboy, all of you would be complaining about that.

Was it for the sake of the kids as some suggest?
If you were in that class, which memory would you rather have: the president was told something, and he immediately stood up, told us he was sorry but he had to leave urgently, and we later found out about the attacks; OR: the president was told something, we later found out it was about the attacks, and then he sat there and read the book about the goat with us for 7 minutes?
I mean, would the first option be particularly damaging to these kids? I really doubt it. I'd prefer to remember him reacting like a man with a job to do, and witnessing some presidential action rather than indecisiveness. He just didn't know what to do. He's a figurehead, not a president.

^---if a man can't start discussing directives, giving commands, and follow up on incoming intelligence without coming off as a loony crazy cowboy, then we're paying him too much to be a functioning president. Don't make excuses for his idleness.
If this is what we get to expect for every national emergency from now on, get another damn commander in chief. I mean if Bin Laden lays an anthrax bomb in an airport, what, is Bush gonna break out the yo-yo next? Foreign leaders are literally laughing at us for being sensitive sammies.
