Buying a fighter jet isn't that far out of reach. But filling it up for one go around will cost you a pretty penny.

russian trash. is it any wonder we americans won the cold war?

also, is it any wonder we are winning the war in iraq???

the iraq war was not about WMD. neither was it about oil. the iraq war was about murdering hundreds of thousands of arabs, muslims, kurds, and others whom we white europeans hate.

thank god for the iraq war. we have killed almost 1 million of them. that is the legacy of amerika. and i am damn proud of it!

From a design aspect, this aircraft is beautiful.

It's equivalent counterpart the U.S' F-15 looks brutish.

I am still blown away by the sheer beauty of this MiG design; considering the prevalent function-first aspects of cold-war soviet aircraft.

I've seen plenty of them when I lived in Russia. My parents used to send me to a summer camp near Kubinka (big air-base near Moscow). They'd fly over us a few times a day, sometimes going at super-sonic speed, so you'd first see the plane, then hear the woosh.

^^If they were really going supersonic you would be deaf... I guess it was more likely high-subsonic.... But that would have been a great sight anyway.

For those interested: It's Joe Satriani's "Oriental Melody" form his 2002 album "Strange Beautiful Music".

Ayle, it's not like they flew right over the treeline. They were at least a few hundred feet up, plus they were ALREADY going super-sonic, so no big boom when them breaking the sound barrier. Actually, military aircraft are prohibited from breaking the sound barrier over a populated area for that exact reason. Anyhow, when you see the plane fly by first, and only hear it a couple seconds later, it's a pretty safe bet they're going super-sonic.
