sometimes called harmonic harps, wind harps originated in ancient greece (circa 6 bc) and flourised throughout the renaissance era. aeolian harps are rare, beautiful instruments designed to be played by the wind; free of the touch of human hands. harmonic wind harps transpose the spirit of the wind into spontaneous, multi-layered music in time to nature's rhythms. their vibrant voices sing pure harmonic tones that range from deep, pulsing bases to soaring sopranos. a variety of winds, harps, and string tunings combine on these selected recordings to produce an eclectic repertoire of definitive music.

walking is one of those activities that's not only healthy for you, but good for the planet too. the wind tunnel footbridge is part modern sculpture, part green technology, and part weird. surrounding the bridge are five bladed wheels that spin like windmills when the breeze picks up. each wheel spins in an opposite direction and at varying speeds to make optimal use of wind direction. from a distance it looks like a modern work of art, but i can't imagine walking through the thing as i'm sure i would experience the same motion sickness i get when walking through a fun-house tunnel. best of all, this concept bridge is able to harness the wind that propels it to produce and store energy. designer michael jantzen thinks these could be constructed at public attractions like museums and parks, but i would really like to see these replace skywalks across highways. regardless, this bridge seems to be a heck of a lot safer than walking on a 4-inch piece of glass suspended over the grand canyon. source scifi.com
the supergalactic wind from starburst galaxy m82 explanation: star formation occurs at a faster pace in m82 -- a galaxy with about ten times the rate of massive star birth (and death) compared to our milky way. winds from massive stars and blasts from supernova explosions have created a billowing cloud of expanding gas from this remarkable starburst galaxy. the above scientifically color-coded image highlights the complexity and origin of the plume by combining a wide field image from the wiyn telescope in arizona with a smaller high-resolution image from the orbiting hubble space telescope. m82's aspect in optical pictures has led to its popular moniker, the cigar galaxy. m82's burst of star formation was likely triggered a mere 100 million years ago in the latest of a series of bouts with neighboring large galaxy m81.
