a burglar who broke into a home just east of fresno rubbed spices over the body of one of two men as they slept in their rooms and then used an 8-inch sausage to whack the other man on the face and head before running out of the house, fresno county sheriff's deputies said saturday. lt. ian burrimond, describing the crime as one of the strangest he's ever heard of, said a suspect was found hiding in a nearby field a few minutes later and taken into custody on suspicion of residential robbery. deputies, he said, had no problem linking the suspect to the crime. "it seems the guy ran out of the house wearing only a t-shirt, boxer shorts and socks, leaving behind his wallet with his id," burrimond said. arrested was antonio vasquez, 22, of fresno. burrimond said deputies headed to the victims' home in the 300 block of south thompson avenue near kings canyon road shortly after 8 a.m. saturday regarding a burglary in progress. the victims, both farmworkers, told deputies they were awakened by a stranger applying spices to one of them and striking the other with a sausage. both the spices and the sausage, burrimond said, reportedly were obtained from the victims' kitchen. after the man fled, the victims discovered the home had been ransacked and that some money was taken, burrimond said. burrimond said the money was recovered, but that the piece of sausage used in the attack was discarded by the suspect and eaten by a dog. fort pierce — an apparent spat involving sardines and vienna sausages erupted into a beating and ended with a 43-year-old local man going to jail, according to an arrest affidavit released monday. the victim on sunday told investigators she went to visit her ex-boyfriend, maxie l. davis, 43, who lives in the apartment behind hers, and they watched television. the victim said davis, of the 3500 block of sloan road, went out and she popped open a can of sardines and some vienna sausages, a popular canned wiener product. “she stated davis came back in and was upset that she had opened the sardines and sausages,” the affidavit states. “(the victim) stated davis told her not to disrespect him in his house and punched her several times.” the victim fell to the ground, dazed, and couldn’t get up, begging davis to help. she said davis wouldn’t assist her and she crawled out, calling 911 from her apartment. davis, the victim said, left in a gray pick-up, and when sheriff’s investigators spoke to him he said he “has had no past or present relationship” with the victim. davis said she is “a friend of a friend” and arrived to smoke crack. “he stated when she was waiting for the crack, she started to ‘flip out,’” the affidavit states. davis was arrested on a battery charge. source
article submitted by ug7344. hidalgo - maybe a mission woman wanted customs agents to believe she had a very big baby. a 21-year-old woman tried to smuggle nearly five and a half pounds of chorizo concealed in several baby diapers insider her suv at the hidalgo-reynosa international bridge just before midnight friday, according to u.s. customs and border protection. an officer at the checkpoint saw a pile of diapers inside the woman's 2005 ford expedition and ordered her into secondary inspection for a closer look. the woman told them her baby had soiled the diapers, officers said. but after the inspectors tore into the folded diapers to check out what was inside, the brown mexican pork sausage was out of the bag. "you would be surprised what people carry in their vehicles," said felix garza, a local u.s. customs and border protection spokesman. border crossers frequently try to illegally bring across fresh foods such as pork, chicken, eggs and avocados that can create problems for u.s. agricultural production, garza said. the woman was fined $300 and released. the officers seized the chorizo. "some claim ignorance," garza said of food smugglers. "and some say, ‘it's hidden. you caught me.'" friday's spicy discovery wasn't the first time someone tried to smuggle contraband inside a infant's underpants. in may, officers at the pharr-reynosa international bridge seized $10,000 stuffed in an 15-month-old's diaper.
