on the way to the office he regrets what he has done, realizing that the whole event was not worth the price. so he has his secretary send a check for $250 and enclosed the typed note:
dear madam:
enclosed you will find a check in the amount of $250 for rent of your apartment. i am not sending the amount agreed upon, because when i rented the apartment, i was under the impression that;
1) it had never been occupied 2) that there was plenty of heat 3) that it was small enough to make me feel cozy and at home.
however, i found out that it had been previously occupied, that there wasn't any heat, and that it was entirely too large. upon receipt of the note, the girl immediately returned the check for $250 with the following note:
dear sir,
first of all, i cannot understand how you could expect a beautiful apartment to remain unoccupied indefinitely. as for the heat, there is plenty of it, if you know how to turn it on. regarding the space, the apartment is indeed of regular size, but if you don't have enough furniture to fill it, please don't blame the landlady. please send the rent in full or we will be forced to contact your present landlady.
a sydney man who offered free rent for a "lot of rubbing" claims he was serious about the proposal. the risque advertisement, posted on popular website gumtree, has been circulating via email since it was posted in early january. debate raged as to whether the poster was serious when he claimed he was "not looking for anything too sexual, just some rubbing" from his would-be housemate in sydney's eastern suburbs. rent is advertised as free for a "lot of rubbing", while the tenant would pay $50 per week in exchange for "some rubbing". "no rubbing, but cleaning, cooking & shopping" is $100 per week, "no rubbing, but either cleaning, cooking or shopping" is $150 per week and "no rubbing, no cleaning, cooking or shopping" is the most expensive option at $200 per week. it also promises all bills are included — "other than oils". the mystery poster has now been identified as 32-year-old online entrepreneur doron, who says he was surprised by the attention the ad received. "a friend of mine was sick of me complaining about not having a flatmate so we wrote this one together for a bit of a laugh," doron told ninemsn. "i didn’t expect him to post it but he did, so i was surprised to start getting responses. "i must admit i did start taking it seriously once it was out there." doron says he got about half a dozen responses, but none appeared interested in the offer of bartering rent for "rubbing". "some people said that they would love to live with someone with a sense of humour and how refreshing it was to see something different," he said. "i was hoping to get some (kinky responses), if only for a laugh if nothing else. "i'm single and i would have at least had them in for an interview … i could imagine it may attract a few psychos, but i definitely had an open mind." gumtree promptly took down the post today when it was brought to their attention. the online classifieds said it was not been aware of the ad's existence because it had not been "flagged" by any users who may have found it inappropriate. "very few ads of a sexual nature appear on the site, and if they do, gumtree will remove them," a spokesperson said
new york, aug. 10 (upi) -- a new york hot dog vendor says he was evicted from his spot by the metropolitan museum of art because he could not afford the $53,558 monthly rent. vendor pasang sherpa, 51, said he routinely made up to $1,500 daily at his location but fell $310,000 behind on the parks department rent, the new york daily news reported. "i'm going crazy," said sherpa, who agreed in 2008 to pay nearly $643,000 annually for the vendor rights to the museum location. "i don't know what to do now." sherpa said his eviction comes after his business was hurt by a lengthy construction project near the museum's steps. parks spokesman phil abramson confirmed sherpa and his vending carts have been evicted from the museum location and the city department has seized $170,000 in performance bonds from the hot dog vendor's company. "as they are in arrears for the bulk of their contract, we are seizing their bonds and will seek the rest of the money they owe us through litigation," abramson told the daily news. source
