kuala lumpur, malaysia - a man who apparently severed his penis in an attempt to convince his wife that he was faithful to her was recovering after surgery to reattach the organ at a northern malaysian hospital, a news report said tuesday.
the 41-year-old man, who was not identified, got into an argument friday with his wife, who found a text message on his mobile phone from another woman. the man was heard by his son shouting that he wanted to prove he was not having an affair, the new straits times reported.
the assertion was followed by loud screams, and the man emerged from his room bleeding profusely, his 14-year-old son was quoted as saying. his wife rushed him to hospital.

an apple software update is disabling iphones that have been unlocked by owners who wanted to choose which mobile network to use. earlier this week apple said a planned update would leave the device "permanently inoperable". thousands of iphone owners hacked their expensive gadget in order to unlock it for use with other mobile carriers and to run a host of unsupported programs. there are also reports of the update causing issues with unaltered iphones. on monday apple issued a statement in which it said many of the unauthorised iphone unlocking programs caused "irreparable damage" to the device's software. the company said this would "likely result in the modified iphone becoming permanently inoperable when a future apple-supplied iphone software update is installed". that warning has now proved correct as many owners are reporting their phones no longer work following installation of the update. apple requires iphone owners to take out a lengthy contract with at&t in the united states but there are a number of programs on the net that unlock the device for use with other networks. some owners are reporting on technology blogs and apple's own forums that the update is deleting contacts information, as well as photos and music, on iphones that have not been modified in any way. source
phoenix — a surgeon faces a disciplinary hearing for snapping a photo of a patient's tattooed genitals during an operation and showing it around to other doctors. mayo clinic hospital administrators said dr. adam hansen, chief resident of general surgery, admitted taking the photo with his cell phone on dec. 11. the tattoo on strip club owner sean dubowik's penis reads: "hot rod." dubowik, who had undergone a gallbladder operation, said he learned of the photo monday when the mayo clinic called. "i got a strange call after my surgery from a doctor who said there was a problem. he said hansen was on the phone and would explain," he said. dubowik, 27, said hansen told him he took the picture while inserting a catheter into his penis. a member of the surgical staff made an anonymous call about the photo to the arizona republic on monday. "he told me he didn't want me to read about it in the newspaper first," dubowik said. hansen wasn't available for comment tuesday and has been placed on administrative leave. he could face a range of punishment from probation to dismissal. "patient privacy is a serious matter, and photographing someone in this manner without a good reason is something we will investigate down to the last detail," said dr. joseph sirven, education director for mayo clinic arizona, the hospital's parent organization based in scottsdale. dubowik said he got the tattoo on a bet and that "it was the most horrible thing i ever went though in my life." he said he planned to contact an attorney. a farragut man who said the end of the world would begin on friday has been fired from his job at knology after going public with it.
john gilmore had run the east tennessee operations for phone, cable, and internet company knology.
he'd predicted five big cities in the us would face economic collapse on friday 11th november.
he now says he has no hard feelings toward knology, and understands why it let him go.
"in the end i view it as a resignation. i feel god is calling me to do other things. i've said this before but a couple of months ago he told me i wasn't going to work anymore."
john now admits he got the dates wrong but he holds fast to his belief god is going to punish people for their sins, and it is coming soon.
"it is coming. it's for our sins against him and our refusal to ask for forgiveness through his son. that has not changed. and i feel it is imminent and i don't know the date and i don't know the time."
