alan john jett probably won't be getting any father-of-the-year awards after he killed a prostitute then asked his young son to help him dump her body. the orange county sheriff's office has charged the orlando dad with first-degree murder in the june killing, after jett's fifth-grade son told a classmate about the slaying. the boy led police to the remote location where he helped his dad dump the body of lashanda rae brand. according to the arrest affidavit, the boy was with his father when he picked up brand. they went back to jett's apartment, and jett and brand retired to jett's bedroom. a short time later, the youngster heard the two arguing about money, then heard nothing. jett took his son to dinner, telling him that brand was sleeping. the next day, the fifth-grader found brand's body wrapped in a blanket in jett's closet. the next day jett told his son they needed "to get rid of the body" because it was starting to stink. the two loaded her body into the back of jett's suv, then dumped it in the field where it was found on june 22, the day after father's day. jett, 40, is being held without bail, according to the orlando sentinel. his son was placed with a relative by the department of children and families. source
half a dozen mexico city prostitutes have been arrested for using eye drops containing a sleep-inducing drug to knock out and rob their clients, leaving at least five men dead, a newspaper has reported.
one central city district has recorded 17 cases this year including five deaths from the drug cyclopentolate - a muscle relaxant used in eye examinations to dilate the pupil and blur vision.
"once they are in the hotel it seems they slip a substance into the client's drink. our data shows that they are using eye drops," local prosecutor fernando lopez told the daily el universal.
mixing eye drops, which are not meant to be swallowed, with alcohol can create a fatal mixture for someone with heart problems, experts say.
one 39-year-old man who survived his ordeal and woke up giddy and missing his wallet, said he was careful not to let his drink out of his sight but unwittingly ingested the drug after the sex worker secretly applied it to her nipples.
other victims of the ruse included a south african tourist and a government legal advisor, lopez said, adding there could be many more victims who had opted not to go to the police.

"he said 'yes' and they had turned round. he said his dad did this because he was still a virgin and he was taking care of that for him." judge jonathan teare said he would spare the father jail because of his excellent character and that he believed he did not mean any harm to his son. milwaukee police probably wouldn't have arrested adan flores-delgado if he had done just one simple thing: pay for his prostitute's cab ride home. the 36-year-old resident of prospect heights, ill., was arrested at a south side motel last week after police said he and a prostitute he had hired got into a loud quarrel when he refused to pay her cab fare. when officers arrived, they found cocaine powder on flores-delgado's nose and upper lip, about $300 on him and $67,400 hidden in his minivan, according to police and a criminal complaint. flores-delgado already had paid the prostitute $40 for sex, the complaint says. if he had simply picked up the cab fare, he probably wouldn't have attracted attention, said milwaukee police lt. john kaltenbrun, who is supervising the investigation. "why he would go and be so cheap and stupid probably had something to do with the cocaine," kaltenbrun said monday. "you've got to love people, don't you? sometimes they amaze even me." flores-delgado was charged with conspiracy to commit delivery of a controlled substance and obstructing or resisting an officer. he faces more than 40 years' imprisonment if convicted of both charges. kaltenbrun said flores-delgado worked as a "mule," transporting drugs and money for a chicago drug dealer. flores-delgado usually didn't know whether he was transporting drugs or money because other people packed the vehicles he drove, but he seemed to know he was transporting cash when he was arrested, kaltenbrun said. officers noticed something was odd as soon as they knocked on flores-delgado's door sept. 29 at the suburban motel, 4600 s. 27th st. at first, flores-delgado didn't answer, but police could hear him moving about in the room, as if he were hiding things, kaltenbrun said. once they entered, flores-delgado identified himself by a false name and handed the officers an identification card with a third name, the complaint says. officers found several cell phones in the room, kaltenbrun said. plastic bags used to package cocaine were on the floor and dresser, according to the complaint. after a drug dog detected traces of drugs in flores-delgado's 2003 dodge caravan, officers found $67,400 wrapped in cellophane in an interior panel in the van, the complaint says. even though the money was hidden, flores-delgado had plenty of cash to cover the prostitute's cab ride, kaltenbrun said. "up until now, it's been very difficult for people in the sex industry to get credit with the banks," a city council spokesman said on friday. "for them it is a hazard that they can not get regular credit or help or mortgages or anything from a regular bank." the council is expected to come to some sort of conclusion within the next two months on what it might do to help the industry. it will not, however, establish or sponsor a "sex bank" as reported by a local paper. dallas — two texas police officers frequently made homeless people and prostitutes sign blank tickets so they could later fill them out with whatever offenses they chose, according to a dallas police department investigation. dallas police chief david kunkle said investigators concluded the two officers used the blank tickets as a law-enforcement tool against habitual offenders. if those offenders always had unpaid tickets, then officers could obtain arrest warrants and take people into custody at any time, kunkle said. "it's hard for me to understand any circumstances where that would be appropriate," kunkle told the dallas morning news. "it certainly violates fundamental fairness if people don't have the opportunity to know what they're being charged with or get proper notification." a formerly homeless man interviewed by investigators said he was a frequent target. "they had me signing blank tickets every time they seen me," said the man, r.b. barton. the two accused officers are senior cpl. timothy stecker and senior cpl. jeffrey nelson. stecker had previously been cleared of charges related to his ticket writing but was placed on restricted duty friday. nelson is already on restricted duty for a pattern of misconduct related to ticket writing, police said. they are likely to face disciplinary action; a hearing on their cases is scheduled for tuesday. an attorney for the two men said they are good officers who have been treated unfairly by the department's investigators.
