a fantastic example of how pop musicians can be lazy. i was listening to the radio when i heard alicia keys` new song which i thought sounded like the black eyed peas. i played around with the pitch and tempo of both songs and after settling on a change of less than 1%, i synchronized the songs and to my surprise, not only did both songs have the same chord structure, they also had a very similar beat and the choruses, verses and interludes seemed to play at the same point in each song. these two songs have not been edited.

from the album elephunk. the black eyed peas' song "let's get retarded" was restyled as "let's get it started" for an nba finals worldwide commercial. the song was quite successful on the charts worldwide, peaking at #21 on the us hot 100, #11 in the uk, and at #2 in australia. new, less offensive lyrics gave the tune a basketball theme in place of the original's theme dealing with getting heavily intoxicated and partying.
