a passenger tried to open a plane door during a frontier airlines flight on saturday morning but was subdued by airline staff and passengers, an airline spokesman said. police and transportation security administration staff met flight 514 after the plane landed in new york city and took the man into custody, said frontier spokesman joe hodas. hodas said the man, whose name was not released, would not have been able to open the door even if he had not been subdued. "you need special training to open the door," he said. there were 128 passengers and five crew members on the plane, hodas said. passenger bobby vigil of estes park told kusa-tv in denver that the man had been acting strangely. vigil said he and other passengers helped a flight attendant tie the man to his seat with duct tape. a beautiful blonde lady stepped onto a plane going to l.a. and sat down in first class. the flight attendant proceeded to go around the airplane checking the ticket stubs of each passenger to make sure they were all in the right seats. when she got to the blonde woman she noticed that it was for coach seating, not first class. she tells the woman, "you're ticket says coach maam and we have a full flight today. i'm going to have to ask you to move." to which the blonde replies, "you don't understand, i'm blonde, beautiful, i'm going to l.a. and i'm getting there in first class." confused, the stewardess gets her supervisor. again, she tells the woman that she must move. again, the blonde replies, "you don't understand, i'm blonde, beautiful, i'm going to l.a. and i'm getting there in first class." also confused, they go get the captain. he tells the woman that she must move. the blonde starts to say, "you don't understand, i'm blonde, beautiful..." when he interrupts and asks, "can i whisper something in your ear?" "sure" she replies and he proceeds to whisper something in her ear. suddenly she gets up and goes back to coach seating with a look of surprise on her face. the flight attendants are startled. "how did you get her to move?" "i told her that first class wasn't going to l.a."

a passenger train ran into a herd of cows in belarus in the early hours of monday, it is reported by the regnum news agency. a total of 33 cows were killed, but many of them did not die immediately meaning some of the passengers had to slaughter the injured animals by torchlight with knives from the restaurant car.
train no. 29 was on its way from moscow to the russian baltic enclave of kaliningrad. regnum quoted one of the passengers as saying that he was woken at approximately 2:20am as the carriage shook violently to a halt. “there was the screeching of brakes, screams, shakes… then the train stopped,” the eyewitness recounted.
the man said that the train had ran into a herd of cows while traveling at full speed. “the poor animals were mooing, moaning. the train dragged some of them for the length of six to 10 train carriages… some were cut in half”.
10 to 15 minutes later a man came out of the restaurant car carrying a large knife. he called on other passengers to help him slaughter the injured cows. “people were walking there with torch lights, slaughtering the cows. it lasted for two and a half hours before the police arrived,” the eyewitness said.
further investigation revealed that the cows belonged to a nearby farm and had strayed on to the railway tracks.

customs officials have lost 124 grams of hashish they planted in an unknowing traveler’s luggage to train drug sniffing dogs, the head of narita customs said monday. customs officials are banned from using travelers’ luggage for training practices, but one worker said it was common practice. “we want to improve the sniffer dogs’ ability, so we have practiced this way several times in the past,” the official said on condition of anonymity. customs said the hash was stored in a metal container stuffed into the pocket of a soft, black suitcase belonging to one of 283 passengers traveling on cathay pacific flight 520 from hong kong to narita, which arrived at 3:31 p.m. on sunday. the owner of the suitcase is unknown and passengers were not informed that their luggage would be used to train the drug-seeking dogs.
albuquerque, n.m. — a passenger stripped naked during a us airways flight and resisted a flight attendant's efforts to cover him with a blanket before two off-duty law enforcement officers on board subdued and handcuffed him, authorities said wednesday. keith wright, 50, of the bronx in new york, was taken into custody after he disrobed while sitting in his seat in the back of flight 705 on tuesday evening, authorities said. the plane was carrying about 148 passengers from charlotte to los angeles, the airline said. wright was unresponsive when a flight attendant asked him to put his clothes back on, said dan jiron, a spokesman for the albuquerque airport. "she asked him on more than one occasion to put on his clothes. she covered him with a blanket and he took that off," jiron said. wright punched and kicked the flight attendant, who asked two off-duty law officers for help, according to a criminal complaint. a los angeles police officer and sheriff's deputy helped the flight attendant subdue and handcuff wright before the flight landed, jiron said. the flight attendants also were dealing with an unrelated onboard medical emergency at the same time, which exacerbated the situation, the fbi said. the aircraft was diverted because of the medical emergency, and wright's actions were a secondary reason for the unplanned landing, the complaint said. roger finzel, an assistant federal public defender representing wright, said he has not yet met with his client and had no information about the case other than what was in the complaint. wright told the fbi he is suffering from a bipolar disorder and had not taken his prescribed medication before leaving new york that morning, the criminal complaint said. wright told the fbi he recalled nothing about the flight or his behavior, it said. wright had been seen dancing in a crowded boarding area before the flight, but when approached by flight service supervisor claudia kearney, he told her he had drunk one beer. kearney told the fbi she did not smell alcohol on him and determined he was well enough to travel, the complaint said. us airways spokeswoman valerie wunder could not confirm that kearney worked for the airline. passenger ginny keegan of detroit was sitting in the front of the plane, when there was commotion coming from the back. the people on the flight were notified of a violent passenger as the plane began to approach albuquerque, but keegan said no one was fearful. "no one was really panicking. the flight attendants seemed to handle it very well," she said. keegan said the man was "completely naked" as he was taken in handcuffs off the plane. as the plane took off again, keegan said the usual announcement to please fasten your seat belts came over the loudspeakers with a twist. the message included "a reminder to everybody to please keep your clothing on. it got a couple chuckles," keegan said. wright is in federal custody on a federal charge of interfering with flight crew members and attendants. he is expected to appear in federal court in albuquerque on thursday. source
a passenger in an air force display team shot himself 100 metres into the sky when he accidentally activated the ejector seat. the man was reaching for something to steady himself during a mid-air manoeuvre when he pulled on the black and yellow emergency handle between his legs. as soon as it was activated, the ejection sequence activated two rockets attached to the back of his chair, shooting him through the jet's perspex canopy. the man, who has not been named, later floated back down to earth on a parachute which opened automatically. south african air force bosses scrambled a helicopter to pick up the passenger after the blunder near langebaanweg airfield, 80 miles north of cape town. the incident happened shortly after he took off for a joyride in the pilatus pc-7 mk ii jet with an experienced pilot from south africa's silver falcons air display team. experts said the man was lucky to escape unharmed following the bizarre incident. source
