"from the creators of melodyne, the industry standard pitch-correction software, comes a brand-new technology called direct note access. direct note access is a technology that makes the impossible possible: for the first time in audio recording history you can identify and edit individual notes within polyphonic audio material." this is amazing.

london, aug. 26 (upi) -- a web site offers doctors' notes with the logo of the british national health service, allegedly for use by healthy people who want some sick leave. the site, doctorsnotestore.com, carries the warning that the notes are for "novelty use only," the daily mail reports. that leads to the question of why someone would pay 25 pounds (nearly $50) for a novelty sick note. the comments purporting to be from satisfied customers answer the question: "my employer didn't suspect a thing. i could have been fired for missing two weeks of work. it was wonderful doing business with you. thank you!" investigators for the nhs say the forgeries are good ones, with a genuine-looking logo and the names of real hospitals and doctors. only the signatures appear to be forged. buyers can choose a disease, how many days they need for recuperation and the hospital. the web site tells them the notes will be available two days after they are ordered. source have any interesting articles you'd like to share? article request thread.
police investigating a bank robbery didn't have to look far for a suspect: a note passed to the teller announcing the holdup had the robber's address on the back.
"i don't think anyone realized what was on the other side," detective sgt. joseph loggia said friday.
charmaine williams stein, 30, of riverhead, was arraigned thursday in suffolk county court on one count of grand larceny, accused of holding up chase bank on june 10 and making off with $22,000.
detectives determined that bank teller john mueller was stein's accomplice, loggia said. mueller, of coram, was charged with grand larceny earlier this month.
the note demanding money was on a bulk mail advertisement that had stein's address on the back, the detective said. stein, who was believed to have been out of town for several weeks, was arrested wednesday night.
she was being held on $20,000 bail.

judges have refused to overturn a decision by german bank bosses who would not replace a 500 euro note after a customer claimed it had been eaten by his cat. the court in frankfurt ruled that to prove the claim peter neumann would have to rescue undigested scraps of the banknote from his pet's litter tray and present them as evidence for an appeal. judges said that they wanted to be completely sure that it was from a single note which had been eaten by a cat. but neumann said: "i have already searched through lots of cat litter and i probably threw out the evidence without realising. "i clear out my cat's litter tray every day and the evidence is going to be long gone by now. "it's not that i don't want to go looking through pet excrement to get what's rightfully mine, it's just that the evidence really isn't around any more. i don't know what else i can do." source
