people have changed their names to some crazy things before. this example is no exception.

a nineteen-year-old staff member of the peta (people for the ethical treatment of animals) had his name legally changed to kentuckyfriedcruelty.com.

kentuckyfriedcruelty.com changed his name as a protest to the supposed unethical abuse of chickens by the food chain giant kfc’s suppliers.

"people don't believe me at first when i tell them my name, but it never fails to spark a discussion," kentuckyfriedcruelty.com told media.

by changing his name, kentuckyfriedcruelty.com hopes to promote a boycott in the peta’s ongoing anti-kfc campaign.

8 syllables, imagine singing the name game with that...

2 rival gang members hit by trax train during fight

salt lake city -- two rival gang members are in serious condition after they were hit by a trax train wednesday at the library square station (235 e. 400 south) in downtown salt lake.

police say the men got into a fight, and during the course of the fight, they fell in front of the train. they were both hit by the oncoming train, pulled under, and one was dragged for a short distance before the train came to a complete stop at the platform.

"this patient was up against a bumper. their first plan was to remove the bumper and try to get him out from under that. he never did go underneath the wheels," said mark bednarik, spokesman for the salt lake city fire department.

the plan worked, and fire crews were able to quickly pull the man out. the other man was able to free himself on his own. both were taken to the hospital in serious condition.

one witness told ksl newsradio, "oh, he's got a gash from one corner of his forehead to the top of other, and it's lain open. it's, you know, 4 to 5 inches long, maybe a quarter of an inch wide."

"they both have a lot of lacerations all over, all over their bodies, you know, from being drug, from being hit, from being sucked under the train," said salt lake police sgt. robin snyder.

police say their injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.

"they're very lucky. the train was going really slow because it was going to pick up. one of them was drug for a short distance so they're both very lucky to be in just serious condition rather than critical or even a fatality," snyder said.

police interviewed witnesses on scene. when the men who were hit are in a condition to talk, police will interview them as well.

this incident is yet another example of how important safety is on the trax platforms.

the driver of the train is now on administrative leave, pending an investigation. that particular train will also be out of service until the investigation is finished. both are standard protocol in an event like this.

man brutally murders six family members

jesse dee wise, 21, brutally killed six of his family members last weekend. among the dead were his grandmother and his 5-year-old cousin. his grandfather was in new york at the time of the killings.

police say that wise confessed to killing the six. apparently, three of the victims were strangled, three were bludgeoned to death with a blunt object.

grandfather wise was unable to contact his family while he was in new york. alarmed, he asked another grandson to check on his family. the 24-year-old adams contacted the police, and found his aunt and young cousin lying dead in the house.

further investigation by the police officers on the scene revealed four more bodies in the basement.

investigators found blood, hair, bone fragments and a hammer in the upstairs halls and bedrooms. they also found two 17-inch pieces of metal that looked like homemade clubs. blankets and sheets had been removed from the beds. wise used the blankets to wrap his dead family member in and subsequently dumped them in the basement.

wise, an orphan raised by his grandparents, apparently had numerous run-ins with the law. although his grandfather, a volunteer for the federation of black cowboys, an organization that introduces inner-city children to horses and black history, did speak with the young man, he said he did not give him a reason as to why he killed his family.

“two weeks ago he told a friend he hated his family. he said he wanted to kill them, but nobody took that seriously,” a friend told the daily news of new york.

five congress members arrested

five members of congress were arrested yesterday during a protest outside of the sudanese embassy.

they were among 11 protesters arrested on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and unlawful assembly.

the protest was against the atrocities being committed in darfur, where the arab minority is systematically killing the black, non-muslim majority.

the protesters called for the sudanese government to accept an un peacekeeper force into darfur and to allow humanitarian relief organizations access to the victims.

in the three-year-old conflict, an estimated 180,000 people have died from hunger and disease, and 2 million people are left homeless.

yesterday, bush called for a stronger international presence in darfur. “the genocide in sudan is unacceptable,” bush said. he urged the sudanese government and the rebel troops to talk and resolve the issue.

more demonstrations are planned this weekend in cities across the nation.
