a guy calls the mayor's wife a whore, with shocking results.
georgetown, texas - a texas mayor can't set foot in the small city he leads until a criminal case against him is over, but he still plans on running it.
bartlett mayor bobby hill, 61, was arrested last week and accused of stealing money and services from his 1,500-person city, about 53 miles northeast of austin. state district judge ken anderson ruled monday that until the case is over, hill must live outside city limits.
"he can do the job as mayor from wherever he's at," said his attorney, marc ranc.
ranc said the mayor's job is only a part-time position, and hill can still conduct city business by phone and do paperwork at home.
hill is accused of writing nearly $9,000 in personal checks to the city of bartlett for cash and for his personal utility bills, then instructing a city secretary to falsify the books and not deposit the checks until he told her otherwise.
according to two complaints, he never did.
hill faces up to 12 years behind bars if convicted on a charge of theft by a public servant and theft of service.

michael sessions, 18, one of the youngest mayors in the country took the oath of office on monday.
sessions registered to vote on september 22, a day after his birthday. he started his write-in campaign in the town of 8,200 the day after that, using us$700 from a summer job.
on november 8, local voters cast their vote. the incumbent mayor douglas ingles was defeated by just two votes. ingles called for a recount on november 15th.
the city attorney said a new mayor could not be sworn in until election recount issues are settled. the legal opinion led to a hastily called hillsdale city council meeting.
michael sessions found out about the meeting while attending the ohio state/michigan game in ann arbor and had to leave the game to attend the special meeting.
fortunately, ingles withdrew request for recount.
michael sessions smiled and expressed relief. "i thank mr. ingles for giving me the opportunity to be inaugurated on monday. he's done a great deal of public service work and it should be applauded."

article submitted by ug7344 . the mayor of a small oregon town who posted photographs of herself in her undies online has been asked by some constituents to resign, according to a report. mayor carmen kontur-gronquist, whose myspace profile raised eyebrows in arlington, ore., faced residents wednesday night at a town meeting, katu.com reported thursday. the station reported that roughly 75 people showed up to the meeting in this town of about 500 people. "the apparent lack of leadership has become so blatant that we feel change has to be made," resident ron miller said, according to katu.com. the mayor declined to resign, katu.com said. kontur-gronquist's myspace page is blocked to all but her friends, but the pictures were at one time available to all users. in an interview with the (pendleton) east oregonian, the mayor said she did nothing wrong and those who are offended need to get over it. "that's my personal life," she said. "it has nothing to do with my mayor's position." kontur-gronquist, who is also the fire department's executive secretary, said the photos were taken before she was elected mayor three years ago, and she saw no reason to remove them from the internet after taking office. "i'm not going to change who i am," she said. "there's a lot of officials that have a personal life, and you have people in this community who have nothing better to do than scrape up stuff like this." source
shreveport, la. - a man impersonating an officer with a flashing red light in his car has been arrested after he pulled over the wrong driver — the mayor of shreveport, la., police said. police think the suspect was using the in-dash light to maneuver through traffic monday night in northwest louisiana. shreveport mayor cedric glover said he pulled over when the driver pulled up behind him, but that the man turned around and left as soon as he saw it was the mayor. glover said he then followed the car and called police, who arrived just as the suspect pulled up to a house. the suspect, daniel niederhelman, 21, of shreveport has been charged with false impersonation of a peace officer. police seized the light and a handgun from niederhelman's holster. authorities said niederhelman works for a private security company, but wasn't authorized to use the light. source
the mayor of zagreb has called for freddie mercury to make a comeback gig in the croatian capital. speaking on national television about his musical preferences, milan bandic said he wanted to attract rock legends to the city. "i would like to see david bowie play in zagreb. and freddie mercury could come, too," he said. mayor bandic reportedly seemed shocked to be told that the queen frontman had died 18 years ago. the mistake caused shock among many croatians but bandic himself shrugged off the gaffe. his prospects in the second round of local elections to be held this sunday seem to have been unharmed with political pundits expecting him to get a new mandate. zagreb resident mirjana popovic said: "it might seem he is a little bit out of touch when he says things like this but he is the right man for mayor." source
for ed warren, becoming mayor of the australian outback town of winton was the luck of the draw from a trash can. the cattle farming town famous as the birthplace of australia's unofficial anthem "waltzing matilda" chose its new mayor late wednesday by drawing a name from a trash can after local elections ended in a draw. warren said thursday he was surprised by the unconventional approach used to break the 423-vote tie with rival candidate butch lenton. "if i was prepared, i was going to say we'll toss for it," warren told australian broadcasting corp. radio. queensland state electoral laws allow for such ties to be decided by either the drawing of a name or tossing of a coin. warren said a draw was used to choose the mayor in the city of rockhampton eight years ago. but some opposition state lawmakers argue the law should be changed to remove any "raffle stigma" from the office of mayor. source

a new york busker who calls himself the naked cowboy and entertains tourists in his underwear has launched a bid to run for mayor. "no one knows how to do more with less than yours truly," said robert burck, who has become a feature of the times square area. "and that's the kind of thinking i plan on sharing with my fellow new yorkers when you elect me." the long-haired, tattooed burck said on his website that he plans to make an official announcement at his regular haunt on wednesday. dressed in nothing more than a cowboy hat, boots, and a pair of white underpants emblazoned with the words naked cowboy, burck earns about $1,000 (£600) a day busking. he aims to run against mayor michael bloomberg, a billionaire and wall street whiz hoping for a third four-year term. mr bloomberg has already spent millions of dollars on his campaign, including on a blizzard of television commercials. his only real challenger, the little-known city figure william thompson, has so far struggled to be heard. source
the new mayor of an indian town is refusing to give up begging - because he's making too much money. dharmveer bhoora, 56, says he makes so much money from begging he can subsidise town council projects in khaikheri, northern india. on a good week, the veteran pan-handler - who has never held a steady job - reckons he rakes in more than £350.
