here at spikedhumor, we're always looking for ways to improve our site and provide you with the best entertainment on the internet. therefore, we have implemented the flash video system to make video playback cleaner, faster and less buggy. the current flash player will be upgraded over the next few weeks to one that is unique to spikedhumor which will offer more goodies and user-friendliness.

central to our content has always been the public upload system, which we are pleased to announce will be improved, mostly in regards of its user-friendliness; we're aware that some users find it difficult to use. as part of this, we are also introducing some new rules for the system. we expect all articles submitted using the public upload system to be of high quality, both in content and in grammar/formatting.
so, when uploading content, please be aware of the following simple rules:
- before submitting an article, search the site to make sure that it hasn't already been submitted.
duplicates are a burden.
- capitalize every word in the article title.
- when writing descriptions, remember to use proper spelling, punctuation and grammar in general.
- descriptions should be clear and concise, while giving as much information as possible.
spikedhumor's search feature depends on this.
- do not repeatedly post the same article.
if you've discovered that one of your articles was deleted, it was removed for a reason. anybody who insists on resubmitting identical articles will eventually have their account removed.
as well as those basic rules, anyone who repeatedly submits poor quality articles may be penalised by having points deducted from their xp. it may seem harsh, but take it as an indication of how important quality content is.
as well as these new updates, we want to hear what you think of the way the site works. for example, do you want to see more of one thing and less of another? have your say and let us know what we can do to make spikedhumor better.
the best way to air your opinions is through the feedback board on the spikedhumor forums. alternatively, you can join the spiked irc channel at irc.criten.net in the #spikedhumor channel and talk directly to an admin. and of course, the comments section below can also be put to use.

separating tags and making proper submissions...
spikedhumor's tagging methods have been redeveloped and reprogrammed. please note that spaces must now be used, as opposed to commas, to separate your tags when filling out an article submission.
it's obvious that other web sites are using spaces and we've decided that the majority would prefer not to use commas. let us know what you think about changing to spaces.
in case you are unsure of how to tag your article properly, here's an example scenario:
say you're uploading a video involving extreme car racing.
suggested tags would be:car auto vehicle race racing extreme
try not to use more than 5 or 6 tags. when entering the title and description, use relevant words in more than one way, use synonyms and be concise. the goal, when submitting an article, is to make it relevant and descriptive, easily found through the search engine, and intriguing for those who are browsing.
suggested title would be: extreme auto racing - nice cars
suggested description would be: extreme cars, such as ferraris, bmws, and mercedez-benz, race each other on the track and on the road. one of the racers even blows up his engine!
i just made that up off the top of my head, but be creative with your submissions. by doing this, you will gain respect from viewers and admins. you will also intrigue more people to click on your article.
of course, don't forget to properly categorize your article and check off the appropriate age ratings.
if you do not follow these guidelines, optimal exposure for your article cannot be guaranteed. admins and editors spend hours editing and cleaning up articles on a daily basis. flawlessly submitted articles, if entertaining, will be manually promoted to the front page by admins to encourage quality work.
pornographic and adult content (i.e. nudity)...
remember that adult content is prohibited on spiked. uploading pornographic or nude content after being warned via e-mail may result in your account being banned, so be careful when choosing content to upload.
