customs officials have lost 124 grams of hashish they planted in an unknowing traveler’s luggage to train drug sniffing dogs, the head of narita customs said monday. customs officials are banned from using travelers’ luggage for training practices, but one worker said it was common practice. “we want to improve the sniffer dogs’ ability, so we have practiced this way several times in the past,” the official said on condition of anonymity. customs said the hash was stored in a metal container stuffed into the pocket of a soft, black suitcase belonging to one of 283 passengers traveling on cathay pacific flight 520 from hong kong to narita, which arrived at 3:31 p.m. on sunday. the owner of the suitcase is unknown and passengers were not informed that their luggage would be used to train the drug-seeking dogs.

iancu said: "i had no money to pay the debt and when i told lostrie he said he would take my wife instead. "i was scared of what he would do and so i signed a document saying daniela would live with him."

firefighters responded to a fire call, but got far more than expected. jeffrey cullen, 58, used the fake fire call to lure the men to a tree where his cat was stuck. when the firemen refused to get the cat, cullen pulled out his gun. the firemen and a twelve-year old boy ran for their lives.the three person crew knew something was amiss when they responded to the fire call and saw no smoke or fire. instead the allegedly deceptive cullen insisted that he wanted his cat brought down from a tree and said that he knew the only response he would get was for a fire call.according to reports the battalion chief told cullen to wait for animal control or wait for the cat to get hungry and come down.clearly, cullen did not like this response as he pulled out a small black revolver and emerged from his house whilst shooting, all upset over a little cat in a tree.fortunately, the firefighters along with a young child managed to flee the scene uninjured. deputies arrested cullen after a brief standoff and he is now being charged on four felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the mohave county sheriff's department.source

a burglar gave a 35-year-old woman a shoulder massage for several hours after breaking into her apartment in central tokyo and tying her up, police were quoted as saying on friday.
he stole 210,000 yen ($1,900) in cash and her bank cash card, though he later mailed the card to her as she requested after withdrawing 980,000 yen from her account, kyodo news agency said.
it said lee jin-se, 29, a south korean, admitted the burglary and told police he lingered in the woman's apartment and gave her the massage "to relax her."
police believe lee waited there until business hours began for bank cash machines, virtually none of which operate around-the-clock in japan, kyodo said.
a police spokesman confirmed the robbery but declined to comment on the reported massage. he said the woman did not appear to have been physically assaulted.

the automatic teller machine (atm) made the caltex service station in darwin's rural area a popular stop yesterday.
an anonymous caller to the abc this morning says the word got around berrimah quickly that a commonwealth bank machine at the service station was giving out $50 bills instead of $20 bills.
"if you withdrew $100 you got two 50s. but if you'd have withdrew $80, instead of getting four 20s, you got four 50s," the caller said.
the bank is investigating and says it is possible at least 100 customers got more than they bargained for.
the bank's brian fitzgerald says the problem was most likely due to human error.
"the $50 notes and the $20 notes are in different cannisters and occasionally the people that fill the machines up get the canisters mixed up and put a $50 canister into a $29 slot," he said.
"we're investigating the actual cause at berrimah but we believe that may be the case in this instance."
the bank is warning people they will have to give back extra money dispensed from the atm.
"the automatic teller machines are all online and we have a record of every transaction, every customer, how many notes were dispensed and we will start contacting those customers that used the machine today seeking reimbursement of the additional funds that they have received," mr fitzgerald said.
