Video:Engineering In Hell

engineering in hell

an engineer dies and reports to the pearly gates. st. peter checks his dossier and says, "ah, you're an engineer -- you're in the wrong place."

so, the engineer reports to the gates of hell and is let in. pretty soon, the engineer gets dissatisfied with the level of comfort in hell, and starts designing and building improvements. after awhile, they've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and the engineer is a pretty popular guy.

one day, god calls satan up on the telephone and says with a sneer, "so, how's it going down there in hell?"

satan replies, "hey, things are going great. we've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and there's no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next."

god replies, "what??? you've got an engineer? that's a mistake -- he should never have gotten down there; send him up here."

satan says, "no way. i like having an engineer on the staff, and i'm keeping him."

god says, "send him back up here or i'll sue."

satan laughs uproariously and answers, "yeah, right. and just where are you going to get a lawyer?"

Video:Job Interview - Engineer

job interview - engineer

at the end of a job interview, a young engineer fresh out of mit was asked, "and what starting salary were you looking for?" the engineer replied, "in the neighborhood of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package."

the interviewer said, "well, what would you say to a package of 5-weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every 2 years - say, a red corvette?"

the engineer sat up straight and said, "wow! are you kidding?" and the interviewer replied, "yeah, but you started it.

Video:Chinese engineers reveal nuclear-powered lunar rover

chinese engineers reveal nuclear-powered lunar rover

while the us is already thinking ahead to manned missions on mars, china's space program is still in its infancy, with the country taking the very first steps to sending vehicles and eventually people to the moon. after launching a lunar orbiter later this year, scientists will begin the process of choosing among several competing rover designs for exploring the moon's geology and terrain, and now the first of these candidates has been unveiled for public consumption. very similar to the famous mars rovers spirit and opportunity, the six-wheeled bot created by a team at shanghai aerospace system engineering institute is capable of cruising around the moon at a reported 100 meters per hour, all the while snapping photos and collecting bits of moon rock for analysis and possible sale on ebay. perhaps the most interesting part of this design is its dual-mode power system, which consists of the standard solar cell array as well as a nuclear power source, allowing the rover to operate continuously and in areas that go long periods without sunlight. no word yet on when exactly the chinese will pick the winning rover, but expect whichever model emerges victorious to head skyward sometime in 2012.

Video:Reverse Engineering Alien Technology

reverse engineering alien technology

the fact that electromagnetic zero-point energy produces the inertial and gravitational forces open the possibility that both inertia and gravitation might someday be controlled and manipulated. this could have a profound impact on propulsion and space travel.

scientists now are busy modeling the process of tapping the hyperspace and reverse engineering the advanced propagation system of the type iv alien ufos.

radio waves, light, x-rays, and gamma rays are all forms of electromagnetic radiation. classically, electromagnetic radiation can be pictured as waves flowing through space at the speed of light. the waves are not waves of anything substantive, but are in fact ripples in a state of a field. these waves do carry energy, and each wave has a specific direction, frequency and polarization state. this is called a "propagating mode of the electromagnetic field."

zero-point fluctuations could be the source of the push one feels when changing speed or direction, both being forms of acceleration. the zero-point fluctuations could be the underlying cause of inertia. if that is the case, then we are actually sensing the zero-point energy with every move we make.

the principle of equivalence would require an analogous connection for gravitation. einstein's general relativity successfully accounts for the motions of freely falling objects on geodesics (the "shortest" distance between two points in curved space-time), but does not provide a mechanism for generating a gravitational force for objects when they are forced to deviate from geodesic tracks. it has been found that an object undergoing acceleration or one held fixed in a gravitational field would experience the same kind of asymmetric pattern in the zero-point field giving rise to such a reaction force. the weight you measure on a scale would therefore be due to zero-point energy.

extending this principle, scientists are able to understand the process by which type iv extraterrestrial ufos are able to propagate. they manipulate gravity and inertia with the help of electromagnetic zero point energy tapped from the underlying hyperspace.

Video:The Engineer's Song

the engineer's song

(sung to the tune of the beverly hillbillies) come and listen to a story bout a man named jed, a poor college kid barely kept his family fed, but then one day he was talking to a recruiter, he said "they'll pay ya big bucks if ya work on a computer", unix that is ... hard drives ... workstations; well the first thing ya know ol' jed's an engineer, the kinfolk said "jed move away from here", they said "arizona is the place ya oughta be", so he bought some donuts and moved to ahwatukee, intel that is ... dry heat ... no amusement parks; on his first day at work they stuck him in a cube, fed him more donuts and sat him at a tube, they said "your project's late but we know just what to do, instead of 40 hours, we'll work you fifty-two!" ot that is ... unpaid ... mandatory the weeks rolled by and things were looking bad, some schedules slipped and some managers were mad, they called another meeting and decided on a fix, the answer was simple, "we'll work him sixty-six" tired that is ... stressed out ... no social life months turned into years and his hair was turning gray, jed worked hard while his life slipped away, waiting to retire when he turned sixty-four, instead he got a call and they escorted him out the door, laid-off that is ... debriefed ... unemployed ...

Video:Engineers Vs Accountants

engineers vs accountants

three engineers and three accountants are traveling by train to a conference. at the station, the three accountants each buy tickets and watch as the three engineers buy only a single ticket. "how are three people going to travel on only one ticket?" asks an accountant. "watch and you'll see," answers an engineer. they all board the train. the accountants take their respective seats but all three engineers cram into a restroom and close the door behind them. shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. he knocks on the restroom door and says, "ticket, please." the door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. the conductor takes it and moves on. the accountants saw this and agreed it was quite a clever idea. so after the conference, the accountants decide to copy the engineers on the return trip and save some money (being clever with money, and all that). when they get to the station, they buy a single ticket for the return trip. to their astonishment, the engineers don't buy a ticket at all. "how are you going to travel without a ticket?" says one perplexed accountant. "watch and you'll see," answers an engineer. when they board the train the three accountants cram into a restroom and the three engineers cram into another one nearby. the train departs. shortly afterward, one of the engineers leaves his restroom and walks over to the restroom where the accountants are hiding. he knocks on the door and says, "ticket, please."

Video:Mathematician, Physicist, and Engineer

mathematician, physicist, and engineer

a mathematician, a physicist, and an engineer were all given a red rubber ball and told to find the volume. the mathematician carefully measured the diameter and evaluated a triple integral. the physicist filled a beaker with water, put the ball in the water, and measured the total displacement. the engineer looked up the model and serial numbers in his red-rubber-ball table.

Video:Retired Engineer

retired engineer

there was an engineer who had an exceptional gift for fixing all things mechanical. after serving his company loyally for over 30 years, he happily retired. several years later the company contacted him regarding a seemingly impossible problem they were having with one of their multimillion dollar machines. they had tried everything and everyone else to get the machine to work but to no avail. in desperation, they called on the retired engineer who had solved so many of their problems in the past. the engineer reluctantly took the challenge. he spent a day studying the huge machine. at the end of the day, he marked a small "x" in chalk on a particular component of the machine and stated, "this is where your problem is." the part was replaced and the machine worked perfectly again. the next week, the company received a bill for $50,000 from the engineer for his service. they demanded an itemized accounting of his charges. the engineer responded briefly: one chalk mark ... $1 knowing where to put it ... $49,999 it was paid in full and the engineer retired again in peace.

Video:Ten Things Engineering School didn't Teach You

ten things engineering school didn't teach you

1. there are at least 10 types of capacitors. 2. theory tells you how a circuit works, not why it does not work. 3. not everything works according to the specs in the databook. 4. anything practical you learn will be obsolete before you use it, except the complex math, which you will never use. 5. engineering is like having an 8 a.m. class and a late afternoon lab every day for the rest of your life. 6. overtime pay? what overtime pay? 7. managers, not engineers, rule the world. 8. always try to fix the hardware with software. 9. if you like junk food, caffeine and all-nighters, go into software. 10. dilbert is not a comic strip, it's a documentary.
