a greasy bacon-covered beef burger that uses a honey-glazed donut for a bun has become the runaway hit of a us food fair. the 1500-calorie "craz-e burger" stunned organisers of the big e fair in west springfield, massachusetts, as fat-loving foodies walked away with about 17,000 of the over-the-top treats during the event`s 17-day run. the burger — believed to have originated in the us south — has been largely credited with attracting the most visitors to the fair in its 11-year history. and most people who ate the burger appeared to give it the thumbs-up. "i went last week and tried the craz-e burger. it was delicious. try it!" one consumer, triliflops, wrote on twitter. another wrote: "oh my good god the craz-e burger was amazing ... now i have to live with myself knowing i ate a cheeseburger with bacon on a donut." one of fair`s organisers said she was amazed by the burger`s popularity. "there is just something about it that makes it a fun fair food," boston culinary group general manager maureen jordan told us website masslive.com. "it wouldn’t necessarily work in a restaurant or another setting, but at the big e it’s just right."

a man on a scavenger hunt entered a police station hoping to get a photo of an officer eating a doughnut. what he got instead was thrown in jail.
fruitport township police officers bryan rypstra and jon durell heard a knock at the station's back door saturday evening and found a man wearing a long wig and a kiss t-shirt and a woman in a frilly pink dress.
the pair said they were on a scavenger hunt with another woman who had gone to a nearby store to buy a doughnut.
"part of the scavenger hunt was to get a picture of a cop eating a doughnut. they wanted to know if one of the officers would be willing to get their picture taken," police chief paul smutz told the muskegon chronicle.
the officers planned to play along, and they chatted with the man and woman while waiting for the doughnut run. as they spoke, the man, louis jasick, recognized rypstra, a high school classmate who happened to be working overtime that evening.
durell then remembered seeing jasick's name on a flier that had been posted in the station only a day earlier. jasick was wanted on two felony warrants for failing to pay $5,000 in child support.
jasick was listed as a flight risk, so the officers invited him inside and arrested him.
"he was surprised at first," rypstra said.
jasick, 34, a resident of the muskegon county township, was arraigned monday in 60th district court and released on two $2,000 bonds, one for each count. a preliminary examination was set for nov. 18.

private franklin delano donut from red vs. blue.
massachusetts --a franklin couple is seeking $200,000 in damages from a quincy dunkin’ donuts and its insurer, claiming their toddler burned his neck on a “dangerously hot” hash brown patty served at a drive-through. in a civil suit filed last month, the parents of cullen macleod, 23 months, claim their son suffered “serious and permanent burn injuries” after the hot hash brown fell from his mouth and onto his neck, where it immediately stuck. “it took only seconds for the extremely high temperature of the interior portion of the food item to severely burn and blister (cullen’s) skin,” attorney joseph k. curran jr. wrote in a complaint filed in norfolk superior court. before handing the hash brown to her son to eat, the boy’s mother, robin, checked it and found it was “lukewarm,” the suit states. the family claims the hash brown heated up “unevenly” and that the food’s interior temperature was “unsafe for public consumption.” the jan. 14 episode left the boy with burns on his neck and chin, the suit states. curran, who represents robin and greg macleod, said the suit is different from the notorious mcdonald’s scalding coffee case. “the perception attached to a case like this is that it’s a mcdonald’s-like case, which it is not. it will stand on its own merits,” curran said. he declined to elaborate on the toddler’s injuries and said the boy’s parents are not giving interviews. dunkin’ spokesman andrew mastrangelo said in an e-mail, “at dunkin’ donuts, the well-being of our customers is our number one priority. we have been made aware of the complaint and we are looking into the situation.” the suit also accuses the franchise’s insurer, cna insurance company of chicago, of refusing to make a “good faith offer” to settle the claim. a cna spokeswoman could not immediately provide a comment on the civil suit yesterday afternoon. ] source
