bridgeville, pa. - police say a western pennsylvania man told them he kicked his girlfriend's puppy to death because he was upset that the pit bull wouldn't behave before the start of the pittsburgh steelers game. twenty-two-year-old william woodson, of bridgeville, remained jailed monday on a charge of animal cruelty in the 13-week-old pit bull's death. a witness told police that woodson was kicking the dog down the street shortly after 1 p.m. sunday, which is when the football game began. police say woodson was supposed to be taking the pit bull for a walk, but the animal resisted. by the time police arrived, the puppy was dead. police say woodson didn't like the dog and was upset that his live-in girlfriend bought it. online court records don't list an attorney for woodson. source
saratoga springs (ny)- a 19-year-old man dressed as a penis was arrested for disturbing a high school graduation today at the saratoga performing arts center. calvin morett allegedly interrupted the saratoga springs high school graduation by marching across spac's stage in an inflatable 6-foot penis costume while diplomas were being given out, saratoga springs police sgt. sean briscoe said. morett purchased the full-body costume and sprayed parts of the 5,000 people in the crowd with silly string, briscoe said. his motive? "he thought it would be funny," briscoe said. morett was ticketed for disorderly conduct, a violation, and will face the charges in city court on tuesday, briscoe said. morett graduated from saratoga springs high school last year. he tried to streak away from law enforcement, but could not. "once i stopped laughing, he was pretty easy to catch because he was tripping on the lower portion of the costume," said briscoe, who made the arrest. source
berlin (afp) – german police called to clear a road of a dead badger found the animal in question had in fact gorged itself on over-ripe, fermented cherries and, blind drunk, staggered out into the middle of the road. "the animal's stomach had turned the fruit to alcohol and the badger was, to put it crudely, drunk as a skunk," said a police statement on wednesday. "in addition, the badger was suffering from diarrhea studded with cherry stones." prodding the reluctant beast with a stick, officers managed to persuade it to leave the road near the town of goslar in northwestern germany and to sleep off his night of excess in a nearby meadow. "it could not immediately be established whether the badger got into trouble with his wife when he came home in such a state," the tongue-in-cheek police statement concluded. source
