Video:Customs Find Sausage Hidden in Baby Diapers

customs find sausage hidden in baby diapers

article submitted by ug7344.

hidalgo - maybe a mission woman wanted customs agents to believe she had a very big baby.

a 21-year-old woman tried to smuggle nearly five and a half pounds of chorizo concealed in several baby diapers insider her suv at the hidalgo-reynosa international bridge just before midnight friday, according to u.s. customs and border protection.

an officer at the checkpoint saw a pile of diapers inside the woman's 2005 ford expedition and ordered her into secondary inspection for a closer look.

the woman told them her baby had soiled the diapers, officers said.

but after the inspectors tore into the folded diapers to check out what was inside, the brown mexican pork sausage was out of the bag.

"you would be surprised what people carry in their vehicles," said felix garza, a local u.s. customs and border protection spokesman.

border crossers frequently try to illegally bring across fresh foods such as pork, chicken, eggs and avocados that can create problems for u.s. agricultural production, garza said.

the woman was fined $300 and released. the officers seized the chorizo.

"some claim ignorance," garza said of food smugglers. "and some say, ‘it's hidden. you caught me.'"

friday's spicy discovery wasn't the first time someone tried to smuggle contraband inside a infant's underpants.

in may, officers at the pharr-reynosa international bridge seized $10,000 stuffed in an 15-month-old's diaper.

"but chorizo in a diaper? that's new to us," garza said.

and with regular reports illegal drug or cash seizures at border checkpoints, could these chorizo-filled diapers be one of the more outlandish smuggling attempts agents have encountered?

"for now, i think it is," garza said.

Video:Disposable Diaper Saves Child's Life

disposable diaper saves child's life

sao paulo, brazil — a disposable diaper has saved the life of an 18-month-old boy, breaking his fall from a third-floor apartment window, officials said thursday.

caua felipe massaneiro survived a 30-foot (10-meter) fall because his diaper snagged on a security spike embedded in the concrete wall around his apartment building in the northeastern brazilian city of recife.

the boy dangled from the spike for a moment, then "the diaper opened and the baby fell to the ground, but at a much slower speed," a police officer said. "the diaper obviously lessened the impact of the fall and saved the baby's life."

"it was a miracle," said the officer who declined to be identified because she was not authorized to speak to the press. "he could also have been killed by one of the spikes."

the child was treated for minor fractures at the hospital memorial sao jose, where spokesman gilberto tenorio said he was in stable condition.

police have opened an investigation to determine how the toddler fell out the window and "if parental negligence was one of the causes," the police officer said.

the folha de s. paulo newspaper quoted caua's father, 23-year-old alexandre cesar massaneiro as saying that his son climbed onto a sofa underneath the window he fell from - "something he had never done before."

"it wasn't the diaper that saved him," massaneiro told the newspaper. "it was god."

Video:Police On Lookout For

police on lookout for "professional diaper changer"

police last week investigated a bizarre report about a man, describing himself as a professional diaper-changer who asked two mothers if he could perform the chore for their children.

on nov. 7, according to police, the man walked up to a woman in the parking lot at store 24 at 991 washington st. and asked if he could change her children's diapers. the woman, who was putting a bag of diapers in her car, told the man his request was inappropriate and to leave her alone.

she asked the man if he worked at a nearby day care center on waltham street. he said he did not.

the woman told police he spoke to another woman in the parking lot who was pushing a baby carriage. although the first woman said she had planned to take her children to the park on waltham street, she instead drove to the police station. police did not find the man when they went to the parking lot.

judy weinstock, director of the family day care at the waltham street newton community service center, said there was "absolutely" no one trained to change diapers at the center.

"that's very creepy," she said. "i can see why she was terrified."

the man was described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, approximately 30 years old, with a crewcut and wearing blue jeans and a red and white sweatshirt, according to police reports.

feds say man wore diaper full of heroin

new orleans - frank keys jr. faces up to 40 years in prison after he was found cruising down the highway with more than 200 grams of heroin in the diaper he was wearing, federal officials said.

keys, 38, of new orleans was charged friday by a federal grand jury. he got in trouble june 3 in st. john the baptist parish, north of new orleans, when sheriff's deputies pulled over the car he was in for a traffic violation, according to court documents.

the deputies and drug enforcement agency special agents got permission to search the car, and a drug sniffing dog alerted them to the car's passenger side.

the occupants were ordered out of the car, and patted down. during the pat-down, "officers felt a large hard object in the pants area on keys," according to a news release from the u.s. attorney's office.

keys told officers he was wearing a diaper and when they asked if there was anything in the diaper, he "shook his head affirmatively."

officers then removed a package containing about 257 grams of heroin from the diaper.

Video:Man Dupes Woman into Changing His Diapers

man dupes woman into changing his diapers

a florida woman was duped into changing an adult man’s diapers and bottle feeding him for three months when she thought he was disabled and needed care.

janet schulte of melbourne said she agreed for $600 a week to look after the 40-something, disabled man whose brother placed an ad on craigslist seeking care, florida today reports.

the brother, who only communicated with schulte by phone, told her his sibling had diminished mental capacity but was able to come to her house on his own because he lived with an aunt nearby and knew the neighborhood.

she later discovered the man and the brother were the same person after her husband noticed some personality changes in the supposedly disabled man. schulte’s husband then followed him and saw the man get into a car two blocks from their house and drive away.

schulte said never once during the three months of care did the man break character while she “rubbed his head while he was falling asleep,” or changed his diapers. she added that his behavior was never sexual in any way.

when confronted by police, the man, who was not identified or charged, admitted to the scam but blamed it on post-traumatic stress.

authorities are continuing the investigation into the case

berlin (reuters) - vitali klitschko used his son's wet diapers to keep his fists from swelling up after winning his wbc heavyweight title bout against nigeria's samuel peter, the ukrainian told a german newspaper on tuesday.

klitschko said he wrapped them around his hands and it helped him recover.

"baby wee is good because it's pure, doesn't contain toxins and doesn't smell," the 37-year old boxer told bild after he won back the wbc title on saturday.

"i wrap nappies filled with my three-year-old son max's wee around my fists," he said, adding he got the idea from his grandmother. "the nappies hold the liquid and the swelling stays down."
