so forget about the anesthetic and just pull the tooth and be done with it. we have a 10:00 am tee time at the best golf course in town and it's 9:30 already. i don't have time to wait for the anesthetic to work!"
the dentist thought to himself, "my goodness, this is surely a very brave man asking to have his tooth pulled without using anything to kill the pain." so the dentist ask him, "which tooth is it sir?"
the man turned to his wife and said, "open your mouth honey, and show him."
the wife said, "i want a tooth pulled. i don't want gas or novocain because i'm in a terrible hurry. just pull the tooth as quickly as possible."
you're a brave woman said the dentist. now, show me which tooth it is.
the wife turns to her husband and says "open your mouth and show the dentist which tooth it is, dear."
a man walks into the dentist's office and after the dentist examines him, he says, "that tooth has to come out. i'm going to give you a shot of novocain and i'll be back in a few minutes." the man grabs the doc's arm, "no way. i hate needles i'm not having any shot!"
so the dentist says, "okay, we'll have to go with the gas."
the man replies, "absolutely not. it makes me very sick for a couple of days. i'm not having gas."
so the dentist steps out and comes back with a glass of water, "here," he says. "take this pill."
the man asks "what is it?"
the doc replies, "viagra."

syracuse, n.y. — a dentist was dancing to a song on the radio while drilling on a woman's tooth, and she wound up in the hospital when the drill bit snapped off and lodged near her eye, a lawsuit alleges. brandy fanning, 31, said she had to undergo emergency surgery and spent three days in the hospital because of the october 2004 mishap. the federal lawsuit filed last month against dr. george trusty seeks $600,000 for her medical expenses, pain and suffering. trusty, 57, a dentist at syracuse community health center, declined to comment, as did dr. ruben cowart, the center's president and ceo. fanning said she went to the center's emergency dental clinic after pain in a left molar started getting worse. with a root canal ruled out as an option, trusty gave her some novocain and began drilling to break up the tooth before extracting it, she said. as trusty drilled, he was "performing rhythmical steps and movements to the song `car wash,'" which was on the radio, according to the lawsuit. then, fanning heard a snap. trusty tried to use a metal hook to pull the bit out, but that only pushed it farther up, driving it through the sinus and bone near her eye socket, the lawsuit alleged. after first minimizing the problem, trusty talked to an oral surgeon to set up an appointment _ and then told fanning she needed to get to an emergency room immediately, according to the lawsuit. she claimed he had initially told she would likely sneeze the drill bit out, but doctors said later that if she really had sneezed, the drill bit could have blinded her left eye. fanning said she sued because trusty failed on a promise to pay her medical bills. she said she still suffers facial swelling, nerve damage and chronic infections. the suit is in federal court because the health center operates under federal law. source a dentist named 'trusty'...

an isle of wight man was told to get his teeth fixed before a dentist would let him marry his daughter. gordon taylor, 32, was told he must have a series of fillings and cosmetic surgery before he could walk down the aisle with sarah lewis, 26. her father, dr philip lewis, even made him wear a 'snap-on smile' cosmetic denture for the wedding in cowes. "i didn't mean to neglect my teeth, i guess it was just the lifestyle i was leading," said mr taylor. "when i met sarah, i guess her family noticed them more than most because her father is a dentist." dr lewis, 56, admitted he was horrified by the sight of his future son-in-law's teeth. "the thought of my daughter walking down the aisle to gordon with his teeth the way they were was not a good one," he said. sarah's mother joy, who works as a receptionist at dr lewis's surgery, added: "gordon is a lovely chap but he had awful teeth, really awful teeth." and his bride said she was thrilled mr taylor had agreed to undergo the dental work to win her hand. "i will always love him regardless but i know the finished look will certainly please him as well as our family and friends," she said. source

article submitted by ug7433. a german dentist overpowered a female patient in her home and yanked out two dental bridges from her mouth because she had failed to pay her bill. the dentist from the bavarian town of neu-ulm is now under investigation for assault and theft after arriving at the woman's home with his medical instruments to perform the unwanted surgery. according to police, the dentist knocked on the door of the 35-year-old woman on monday evening and without saying a word forced her into her living room and tied her hands. in a scene reminiscent of the movie marathon man, he then forced open her mouth and removed the £320 worth of dental work which the woman's insurance company had refused to pay. according to the victim, he never said a word. "the dentist is being investigated for assault for the way he forced open her mouth, and theft for taking the bridges," said christian owsinski a police spokesman. article submitted by master911. a man operated an illegal dental surgery in the kitchen of his new york home and gave patients wine to help them cope with the pain. police arrested carlos flores after raiding his home at peekskill, in northern new york. investigators say he had all the tools and treated patients in the kitchen of his home. they said he had a chair next to a radiator and antiquated instruments caked in blood. police say there were two birds loose in the house, and on the kitchen table was a jug of wine flores allegedly gave patients to help deal with the pain. they said a man who went there for a toothache ended up in hospital after flores broke the tooth while trying to pull it out. police seized a dentist's chair, drugs and bloodstained orthodontic equipment. flores, 68, claimed he was a licensed orthodontist in his native ecuador. source
woodland, calif. - a dentist accused of fondling the breasts of 27 female patients is trying to keep his dental license by arguing that chest massages are an appropriate procedure in certain cases. mark anderson's lawyer says dental journals discuss the need to massage the pectoral muscles to treat a common jaw problem. police say anderson said during recorded phone calls that he routinely massaged patients' chests to treat temporo-mandibular joint disorder, or tmj, which causes neck and head pain. attorney robert zaro told administrative law judge jonathan lew at a hearing thursday that he should let anderson keep his dental license while disciplinary appeals proceed. anderson would be supervised by two assistants and would no longer do the chest rubs, zaro said. zaro said anderson, 48, of woodland, needs to keep seeing patients so he can feed his seven children and pay for his defense. the judge made no immediate decision. lew suspended anderson's dental license last month. he was charged with two misdemeanor counts of battery and sexual battery. yolo county prosecutors are investigating complaints from more than two dozen women who say they also were groped in the examining chair in the last five years. source
