a fundamentalist church pastor had sex with two of his teenage daughters to educate them on how to be good wives, a south australian court has heard. the 54-year-old man, who cannot be named, was today sentenced in the sa district court to eight and a half years jail after pleading guilty to seven counts each of incest and unlawful sexual intercourse. the court heard that the man had sex with his daughters for nearly a decade from 1991 when they were aged 13 and 15 at the family property. the sex took place at various locations including in a shearer's shed, a paddock, on the back of a ute and, on one occasion, at the girls' grandparents house. the man told the court the sex was not about fulfilling his desires but about teaching his daughters how to behave for their husbands when they eventually married, as dictated in scripture. in sentencing, judge david lovell said the misrepresentation of scripture used to justify the abuse of the girls "defied belief", and that he had "hypocritically betrayed" his religion and principles. "you said the acts were about learning about sex rather than engaging in the acts of sex," judge lovell said. "i do not accept that. "you treated your daughters as your property ... using them to satisfy and gratify your sexual urges." judge lovell gave full credit for the man's guilty pleas, saying he was genuinely remorseful and had a good chance of rehabilitation as his wife and the church remained supportive. the man will be eligible for parole in four years. smh.com
a 39-year-old woman forcefully had her 13-year-old daughter's genitalia pierced to make it uncomfortable for her to have sex, the girl told jurors in her mother's child abuse trial. the girl, now 16, told jurors wednesday that her mother asked a tattoo artist friend in 2004 to shave the girl's head to make her unattractive to boys and later held her down for the piercing. "she was trying to protect me, but it hurt me," the girl testified. "it not only hurt me physically, but it hurt me mentally. ... that's emotionally scarring. that's physical abuse." prosecutor steve maresca said the mother called on a friend to shave the girl's head and do the piercing after realizing that she had been having sex, including with the mother's boyfriend. defense attorney donald day told jurors that the mother had trouble with her rebellious daughter and that the girl agreed to the piercing to help rebuild her mother's trust. "it wasn't torture or extreme violence," day said. "it was, in the young girl's words, to try to save her. ... that decision was a last-ditch effort. in my client's mind, she had no other options." child welfare officials were called after the girl became infected from the piercing. the mother, whose name is being withheld to protect her daughter's identity, is charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse and faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted. tammy meredith, 43, who did the piercing in her home, was sentenced to a year in jail for her role. an arrest warrant has been issued for the mother's boyfriend on allegations he had sex with the girl. source please. mommy wasn't protecting her daughter -- mommy was jealous and wanted to get back at the girl for sleeping with mommy's boyfriend.

cincinnati (ap) - a man ordered by a judge to make sure his daughter hit the books has found himself in jail because she failed to earn a high school equivalency diploma. brian gegner, of fairfield, was sentenced last week to 180 days in jail for contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a minor. he was ordered months ago to make sure his 18-year-old daughter brittany gegner, who has a history of truancy, received her ged - something that hasn't happened yet. brittany gegner, who said monday that she plans to take a required ged test this month, said her father shouldn't be blamed for her failure because she has been living with her mother. "it was my wrongdoing, not his," said brittany gegner, whose fiance and 18-month-old daughter also live at her mother's home in nearby hamilton. "he shouldn't have to go to jail for something i did." her mother agrees. "brittany is almost 19 years old now and i think it's unfair to put her father in jail," said shana roach. "she's an adult now, and it's not right to rip an innocent man from his home." butler county juvenile court administrator rob clevenger jr. said monday that the court still has jurisdiction in the case because brittany gegner was a juvenile when the truancy problems began and when the charge against brian gegner was filed in 2007. a hearing on a motion filed by brian gegner's attorney to reconsider the sentence is scheduled for friday. messages seeking comment were not returned monday at the offices of defense attorney tamara sack and the butler county prosecutor. brian gegner's wife, stephanie gegner, said she and her husband are afraid he will lose his job if he remains in jail. she said they tried to keep his daughter in school. article submitted by henri. a 73-year-old austrian man has confessed to imprisoning his daughter in a cellar for 24 years and fathering her seven children, police have said. police said josef fritzl also confessed to burning the body of a baby that died after birth at the house in amstetten, in the province of lower austria. authorities are caring for the woman, now 42, and her six surviving children. police have released photos of the man's basement which show a concealed network of tiny windowless chambers. the woman, elisabeth, disappeared aged 18 on 28 august 1984 when, according to her testimony, her father lured her into the cellar, drugging and handcuffing her before locking her up. she is reported to have been made to write a letter which made it look as if she had run away. the head of the criminal affairs bureau in lower austria, franz polzer, said mr fritzl had admitted sexually abusing his daughter repeatedly during the time he imprisoned her. mr polzer said mr fritzl had told investigators elisabeth had given birth to seven children, including twins in 1996, but one died shortly after being born and that he had thrown the body into an incinerator in the building. the surviving children are now aged between five and 19 years. the cellar rooms, covering an area of approximately 60 sq m (650 sq ft), were equipped for sleeping and cooking, and with sanitary facilities. a reinforced concrete door was built into the wall that separated the "dungeon" from the house and electronically locked - the code known only to the suspect, who provided his captives with food and necessities, police said. three of the children were kept in the cellar with their mother and had never seen daylight, police told a news conference. the other three children were adopted or fostered by the suspect, after he forced elisabeth to write a letter saying she could not look after the baby, according to police. his wife, rosemarie, with whom he had seven of their own children, appears to have been unaware of the alleged crimes. the case came to light when the eldest of the children in the cellar, 19-year-old kerstin, was seriously ill and had to be taken to hospital. kerstin is said to be in a coma in hospital. the head of the intensive care unit at the amstetten hospital, albert reiter, said the impact of her experiences would eventually become clearer. using nothing but her quick wit and bare hands, a canadian mother fought off a cougar that had pinned down her three-year-old daughter in a forest north of vancouver, police say. the child, named maya, escaped with only superficial wounds after the attack near the town of brackendale, 65 kilometres north of the western city of vancouver. the girl's father, pablo espinosa, told public broadcaster cbc that his daughter thought the wild cat wanted to play. maya and her mother, maureen lee, were walking on a wooded trail with their dog when the cougar pounced. "all of a sudden it just flew on her, rolled her a couple of times and grabbed her," ms lee told cbc. "she was on her back and [the cougar] had his paws on her head, and i just knew i had to react quick. "so i just jumped in there and wedged myself between the cougar and her on the ground. "[then] i just got up and threw it off my back and grabbed maya and ran." maya suffered puncture wounds to her left arm and head, but was reportedly recovering well. the same could not be said for the cougar, an adult male, which was tracked down and killed by conservation officers on tuesday night, local media reported. source
article submitted by blizzloader. an australian man has been charged with murder after witnesses said he threw his four-year-old daughter from a busy bridge in melbourne. melbourne police said in a statement that a marine unit found the girl, darcey, in the water under the westgate bridge about 9.30am thursday. emergency services tried to revive her for 50 minutes and she was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but she died after suffering multiple internal injuries. witnesses told police they had seen a man driving along the inbound lane of the westgate freeway when, near the top of the bridge, he pulled over and threw a young child over the side. cnn's australian affiliate, seven network, reported the girl had fallen 58 meters -- equivalent to 17 storeys. it said the bridge was the highest in the city. her father, arthur freeman, 35, then returned to his car -- where his two sons remained -- and drove into the city. his vehicle was found there about 90 minutes later and he was arrested nearby, seven network reported. police said freeman was in an "agitated state" and later described him as being in an "acute psychiatric state." he did not appear in melbourne magistrates court when he was charged over the death. his lawyer, elanor peattie, told the melbourne age newspaper that she was unable to take "detailed instructions" from freeman. his wife and two sons were receiving counseling. source,source
