orlando, florida - a 60-year-old man has been convicted of groping a woman in a minnie mouse costume at walt disney world. john william moyer of cressona, pennsylvania, told the judge he is innocent. his son said before sentencing that his father would never inappropriately touch a woman, the orlando sentinel reported. he was convicted tuesday of misdemeanor battery and sentenced to write the victim an apology, serve 180 days probation and complete 50 hours of community service. moyer must also pay $1,000 in court costs and possibly undergo a mental evaluation. the victim says she had to do everything possible to keep moyer's hands off her breasts. source
spokane, wash. — a spokane woman who hid a sedated monkey under her blouse on a flight from thailand to los angeles — pretending she was pregnant — has been convicted of smuggling charges. gypsy lawson, 29, successfully passed through u.s. customs in los angeles with the rhesus monkey hidden in her shirt after the november 2007 trip. her mother, fran ogren, 55, of northport, wash., accompanied her on the flight from bangkok and was also convicted. a jury found the two women guilty monday on separate charges of conspiracy and smuggling goods into the united states. sentencing is set for march 3. they were arrested after lawson boasted to a clothing store clerk about the airport escapade. the monkey is now at a primate rescue facility in oregon. source have any interesting articles you'd like to share? article request thread.
article submitted by geoblaze. cartoons showing sex acts involving children modelled on characters from the simpsons are pornographic, a judge ruled today. in the nsw (australian new south wales) supreme court today, justice michael adams ruled a fictional cartoon character was a "person" within the meaning of the relevant state and commonwealth laws. in february, alan john mcewan was convicted in parramatta local court of possessing child pornography and using his computer to access child pornography. "the alleged pornography comprised a series of cartoons depicting figures modelled on members of the television animated series the simpsons," the judge said. the cartoons showed characters such as bart, lisa and maggie simpson having sex. the man was convicted and fined $3,000 and placed on a good behaviour bond. "in my view, the magistrate was correct in determining that, in respect of both the commonwealth and the nsw offences, the word 'person' included fictional or imaginary characters ...," the judge said. "... the mere fact that the figure depicted departed from a realistic representation in some respects of a human being did not mean that such a figure was not a 'person'." in dismissing the appeal, the judge ordered each party to pay its own legal costs as this was the first case dealing with this "difficult" issue. source, full judgement
an escaped convict has been recaptured in taiwan - at a barbecue party organized at the local police station. police in xinzhu city invited residents to celebrate the moon festival with them. but officers could not believe their eyes when they saw an escaped drug dealer called chen, who had just been listed as one of the city’s most wanted criminals, at the party. police officer cai zhengtong, who was in charge of the barbecue, said: “i saw a man dressed in an eye-catching yellow windbreaker enter the place and sit in the corner. he was enjoying the barbecue with the others.” police at the party quickly arrested chen. he told officers he thought it would have been the last place police would have thought of looking for him. source

an american muslim student found guilty of belonging to al-qaeda and plotting to kill u.s. president george w. bush has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
prosecutors had asked for a life sentence for ahmed omar abu ali, 25. but u.s. district judge gerald bruce lee said the sentence was sufficient punishment.
he pointed out that abu ali's actions "did not result in one single actual victim.that fact must be taken into account."
abu ali was raised in the virginia town of falls church, the son of a jordanian father.
the saudis arrested him in june 2003 as he was attending an islamic university.
he gave the saudis a statement, claiming he joined al-qaeda and wanted to establish a cell in the u.s. he also said he had discussed a plot to assassinate bush.
the jury saw a videotaped confession abu ali gave to the saudis in which he said he joined al-qaeda because he hated the united states for its support of israel.
but abu ali claimed that officials in saudi arabia tortured him to extract a false confession.
defence lawyers plan to appeal the sentence.

article submitted by venomousvole. to be convicted of performing sex acts on a horse once may be considered misfortune. being convicted of it twice – with the same horse – looks a lot like carelessness. but that's what just happened to 46-year-old leeroy le gallais, who was jailed for three years yesterday after admitting molesting the horse in a stable in guernsey. le gallais was already on probation after being convicted of performing sex acts with the horse, named calico, last year. on that occasion, he had been caught after he left his underwear in the stable. this time round, le gallais told the court: 'i had a few beers, i went to the stable and interfered with the horse.' his crime was found out after calico's owner noticed that a blanket and a mounting stool in the stable had been moved, and the horse was showing signs of stress. police suspected le gallais, who confessed. source

article submitted by master911. an italian man has been given a suspended jail sentence for staring too intensely at a woman sitting in front of him on a train. a judge sentenced the man in his 30s, whose name was not revealed, to 10 days in prison and a 40 euro ($68) fine after a 55-year old woman filed a complaint for sexual harassment. the two met on two separate occasions in 2005 on a commuter train going from lecco, a town in northern italy, to milan. the first time, the man sat next to the woman but she felt he had moved too close for comfort. the next day, the man sat in front of the same woman and according to her complaint, stared at her for the whole journey. the two did not speak. source
best quality photo i could find. a man serving life in prison for molesting and killing a crothersville girl is now part of a department of correction investigation. anthony stockelman, convicted for the murder of katie collman, now has a tattoo that reads "katie's revenge" on his forehead. a department of correction spokesperson says stockelman did receive the tattoo while serving time at wabash valley correctional facility. while they won't comment further they do say the incident is under investigation and they have contacted the state police.
