gas truck blew up in brazil when the gas attendant open up the hatch and he received a call. the call ignited the fumes of the gas, blowing up the gas truck and the attendant. gas attendant received 3rd degree burns but he is ok. so much for trusting mythbusters when they allegedly "proved" that it was an urban myth. this video was taken on 11/09/07, forwarding to 1:17 will get you to the good stuff.

of the three patients, two were legally blind but can now read the big letters on an eye chart, while the third, who could previously read the top few rows of the chart, is now able to pass the vision test for a driver’s license. the research team isn’t getting over excited, still remaining unsure as to whether the correction will remain stable, but the fact that the three test patients have been enjoying restored sight for the last 18 months is definitely encouraging. the simplicity and low cost of the technique also means that it could be carried out in poorer countries.

another milestone in the often controversial stem cell research...a laboratory linked to the university of wisconsin-madison derived two new lines of embryonic stem cells. the new lines were developed without the use of any animal cells whatsoever, something not previously accomplished before.the use of animal cells as a medium runs heavy risks of complications and mutations. stem cells grown in the new animal-cell-free environment have far less chances of contamination.the new stem cell lines will make it easier and safer for human tissue regrowth and application. in essence, the new lines virtually eliminate the threat of animal viruses and animal-cell-related errors.the more the error can be reduced, the more use the cells have in human therapy.
