gary, ind. --a 14-year-old girl came to middle school with a handgun, ammunition and six small bags of marijuana, police said.
the girl set off metal detectors and was arrested and charged with juvenile delinquency, said gary police detective lt. jack arnold.
school board president jesse morris said parents should not be alarmed because the security system worked.
"if the detectors would not have worked or if they weren't manned, she probably would have gotten inside the school with the gun and the drugs," he said. "that is scary. it's a safety issue, and i'm very concerned about this."
morris suspects the multiple bags the girl brought could mean she was selling drugs for another dealer.
"drug dealers like to send kids into the schools, because if an adult gets caught, especially close to a school, the penalties are more severe," morris said.

if you love playing arcade games but don't feel like investing in a huge cabinet that will make your apartment feel like either some rich kids basement or a frat house, the arcade-in-a-box could allow you to feed your addiction with a bit more subtlety. featuring two sets of arcade controls, you plug it into your tv to turn it into a giant arcade setup. the box is pretty much just a pc that can emulate arcade games, and it comes loaded with the midway arcade treasures and atari anniversary collection bundles of games. since it's just a windows xp machine, you could conceivably play any game using the built-in controls. the one fishy thing is that they're asking $1,800 for this, which is nearly twice as much as the guts of the machine are worth. the smartest solution would probably be just buying a nice gamepad and hooking it up to your computer, but perhaps that's just too boring. source scifi.com

"steve's wife gave it to me," jed replies. "that's unbelievable, you told the lady her husband was dead and she gave you beer?" well, not exactly", jed says. "when she answered the door, i said to her, 'you must be steve's widow'." she said, "no, i'm not a widow!" and i said, "i'll bet you a case of budweiser you are.
in my opinion, this is one of the greatest music videos ever made. extremely well-done.
