san diego - a man accused of stealing a pornographic web site and making millions of dollars from it was arrested by mexican authorities.
stephen michael cohen, 57, was taken into custody thursday as he applied for a work permit and was turned over to u.s. authorities, said tania tyler, a spokeswoman for the u.s. marshals service, which tracks down fugitives.
at a hearing friday in san diego federal court, magistrate judge leo papas ordered cohen transferred to northern california, where a warrant was issued for his arrest.
"it's good that justice is served," said gary kremen, 41, who fought cohen for years over the sex.com web site. "it actually says something about border cooperation."
the lucrative web site primarily hosts ads for other sex-related sites. kremen said he spent $4.5 million in legal fees trying to regain control of it.
a federal judge in 2000 found that cohen had hijacked the domain name by forging a letter from kremen's company. the judge ordered cohen to return the site and pay kremen $65 million.
cohen failed to appear in court after the judgment was entered and the judge in 2001 issued an arrest warrant charging him with contempt of court. since then, he had been living in tijuana, according to court records.
the warrant orders cohen to remain imprisoned until he returns $25 million that the judge said was illegally transferred out of the country.

the web site for department store giant sears offered a gruesome sales pitch thursday — a grill that could "cook babies" and be used to roast body parts. the goof, first reported by tmz.com, listed any grill viewed by visitors to the company's web site under the category of "human cooking > grills to cook babies and more > body part roaster." the wording apparently was the work of a mischievous customer and, when discovered, was quickly changed, but not before tmz.com captured a screengrab. representatives from sears said they were victimized by "someone visiting" the company's web site. "we discovered earlier today that someone visiting our site had defaced a limited number of product pages," the company said in a written statement to foxnews.com. "it’s important for our customers to know that we have no reason to believe that any of our customer or financial data were compromised. "we’ve already taken steps to prevent this from happening again. we sincerely apologize to any customers who may have seen this on our site." source
london (reuters) - an ancient burial pit containing 45 severed skulls, that could be a mass war grave dating back to roman times, has been found under a road being built for the 2012 british olympics. archaeologists, who have only just begun excavating the site, say they do not yet know who the bones might belong to. "we think that these dismembered bodies are likely to be native iron age britons. the question is -- how did they die and who killed them," said dig head, david score, of oxford archaeology. "were they fighting amongst themselves? were they executed by the romans? did they die in a battle with the romans? "the exciting scenario for us possibly is that there were skirmishes with the invading romans and that's how they ended up chopped up in a pit," he told reuters. when the main roman invasion force landed in britain in ad 43, claudius' legions moved swiftly through western england to subdue fierce celtic tribes. the skulls and other bones were unearthed at a place called ridgeway hill, on the construction site of a new major relief road to weymouth, on the dorset coast in southwest england. the seaside town -- in the heart of thomas hardy country -- is to host sailing events for the london olympics. the grave site is close to maiden castle -- europe's largest iron age hill fort where local tribes are said to have staged a last stand against the roman legions after the invasion. some historians believe the romans sacked the site, butchering its population including women and children, before burning it to the ground. score said they had counted 45 skulls so far in the 6-metre wide pit, together with a tangle of torsos, arms and legs, more could be found in the coming weeks. most of the skulls were those of young men, supporting the theory they could have been killed in battle or executed en masse. "one of the things that we will be looking for is do they have sword cut marks on the bones, and how were the heads dismembered: prior to or after death in an act of victory," score said. archaeologists say they could also be roman citizens or indigenous people who had died through disease or disaster. few artefacts have so far been found with the bones, though pottery shards dating to the late iron age and early roman period have been found scattered around the pit. "it is rare to find a burial site like this one," score said. "there are lots of different types of burial where skeletons may be aligned along a compass axis or in a crouched position, but to find something like this is just incredible." source

we apologize, spikers. please bear with us for a short moment as we move all of our servers across the data center. we are also adding a brand new server cluster to accomodate our ever-expanding database. how do i know this, you say? i'm standing in a room full to the ceiling with pizza box computers, losing my hearing and getting a bad case of the swamp-butt. all joking aside, we assure you that this will be a momentary hiccup in site operations and we hope to be online within the hour. p.s. we have alerted the winner of the wii drawing, however, i have not had sufficient time to check if he/she has replied. we'll have a totally badass drawing in the future. robusto out.
dear spikers, we'd like to give you an update on the status of our upgrades. don't worry... the news is good. the buffering screen you may be experiencing is due to traffic load (queuing) and also the linux cluster file server system we've been setting up for several weeks. we've been copying files over to the new system for the past two days and should be ready to do live testing by tonight or tomorrow. after the many long hours and thousands of dollars spent, we are so very excited to finally test out this heavy duty linux cluster file server system, in order to accommodate the needs of all the entertainment junkies! on top of that great news, we will be testing out the use of a technology known as panther [express] for distributed bandwidth across the world. this will allow spiked to cache high-end content on a global scale. basically, content will be distributed based on geographic location. instead of pulling content from a server thousands of miles away, you will be getting content delivered much faster from a mirror close by. another update will be posted when the linux cluster is in full operation. take note of the site's performance and stability over the next few days while we undergo live testing. as always, we love your feedback. thanks for your patience and cooperation! , spiked staff
a workman was killed at a construction site. the police began questioning a number of the other workers. based on past brushes with the law, many of these workers were considered prime suspects. they were a motley crew: the electrician was suspected of wiretapping once but was never charged. the carpenter thought he was a stud. he tried to frame another man one time. the glazier went to great panes to conceal his past. he still claims that he didn't do anything; that he was framed. the painter had a brush with the law several years ago. the heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor was known to pack heat. he was arrested once but duct the charges. the mason was suspect because he gets stoned regularly. the cabinet maker is an accomplished counter fitter. the autopsy led the police to arrest the carpenter, who subsequently confessed. the evidence against him was irrefutable, because it was found that the workman, when he died, was hammered.

let's do a falling brick test from 3 stories up.
boston (cbs) ? hadden clark is a cross-dressing child killer who claimed to have buried victims on cape cod. it's hard to believe anyone would want to buy his used sweat socks, or his prison pillow case, but there it is -- online for $20. keep browsing and you'll find artwork by john wayne gacy for $350. for $850, you can get a lock of charles manson's hair. it even comes with it a letter of authenticity from mansion himself, cbs station wbz-tv in new york reports. it's called murderabilia, and it's sold on several sites like murderauction.com. prosecutor abby rivkind is not exactly a collector. "my first reaction was 'ewwww.' my second reaction was 'who would buy this?' my third reaction was, 'what kind of a person would sell this?'" well, meet todd bohannon -- founder of murderauction.com. he's one of the country's largest collectors of serial killer artifacts. his fascination began at age 13. he saw the movie "helter skelter" and started writing letters to charles manson. manson wrote back. since then, he's written to 300 other killers and has made friends with many of them. he doesn't believe hawking items from people like ted bundy is a problem. how do you put a stop to this? congress is getting involved by introducing a measure that would make it a felony for prisoners to mail items for interstate commerce. however, stopping those items from getting out won't be simple. and the penalties only affect the inmates, not the person buying the murderabilia and not the person selling it. some states have taken their own action against murderabilia. massachusetts hasn't yet. there is a bill sitting up on beacon hill to stop criminals from cashing in, but it's been around for a few years. lawmakers have debated it, and it's gone nowhere. source ...i've found my new favorite website.
as you probably noticed, the majority of content on spiked is not functioning.
on the positive side, this is because we're moving to a new data center! eta is 3-4 hours. this will improve stability for the upcoming spiked 2.0.
we sincerely apologize for any inconveniences, but we're confident that you'll be pleased with our upgrade.
in the meantime, check out the forums.
